Georgia's Hidden Treasures: A Family 2 Family Special

Catch a ride on a vintage train, discover a waterfall hidden in the city and witness the rebirth of a piece of the state’s history on Georgia’s Hidden Treasures.

Channel 2's Justin Farmer will reveal a short line railroad in southwest Georgia. Along the way riders stop at the Windsor, a majestic hotel that once served presidents and mobsters alike. The train also stops at a telephone museum, a theater said to be the home of a ghost, and the hometown of former president Jimmy Carter.

Channel 2's Wendy Corona will show you where you can see historic monuments over 100 acres of trails, and even a waterfall, without leaving the city. The Cascade Springs Nature Preserve is tucked away in southwest Atlanta and covered by a canopy of trees. The brooks running through the oasis and the shaded trails make the preserve a perfect place to cool off in the summer.

Finally, Channel 2's Craig Lucie takes you to the brand-new home of the Cyclorama, a massive piece of Georgia's history. Learn a few secrets of the restoration, including how historians figures out what section of the painting was removed when it was relocated decades ago.

Watch Georgia’s Hidden Treasures: A Family 2 Family Special, Wednesday at 8 p.m. on Channel 2.
