• Georgia tax-free weekend begins


    ATLANTA - The Georgia tax-free holiday is this weekend as students, parents and teachers prepare for the new school year.

    Friday and Saturday Georgia shoppers can buy certain items without having to pay sales tax.

    Tax-exempt items include clothing with a sales price of $100 or less per item, computers and computer software priced $1,000 or less per item and school supplies priced $20 or less per item.

    Jewelry, handbags, cameras, cellphones and other similar items are still taxable.
