Father of 4 claims house was destroyed after tow truck driver drops repossessed vehicle

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A family is recovering after they say their car rolled into their house when a tow truck driver dropped it.

Benjamin Paul wrote in a GoFundMe that the family of six had put all of their savings into a downpayment on their first house less than a year ago in Roswell.

Although the family made a downpayment on the house and medical bills, the family fell behind in paying other bills, primarily bills pertaining to their car, according to Paul.

Last week, Paul said a tow truck driver arrived at their house to repossess their car.

After the tow truck driver hooked the vehicle, Paul gathered the family’s belongings and returned to work downstairs in the house. Seconds after he did so, Paul said he heard a loud noise and the sounds of glass shattering.

“I ran upstairs to see my wide picking up our one-year-old who was within a foot or two of the collision,” Paul wrote. “Our car was now in our living room.”

Paul claimed that the tow driver mistakenly dropped the car, causing it to roll into the house, knocking in a wall, window and destroying all their living room furniture.

Since the incident, officials have deemed the home uninhabitable, causing the family of six to live in a hotel while it is repaired.

Paul said they were told the house would be fully repaired in three weeks.

The family has not said if the tow truck driver or company will assist in the damages.

Channel 2 Action News asked for contact information for the towing company but has not received a response.
