Channel 2′s Berndt Petersen went to Forsyth County where he went to what the locals there say is one of the luckiest places to buy a ticket – Leon’s Food Mart.
Sunshine Mahan, who works at Leon’s, told Petersen that she knows a winner when she sees one.
“People who don’t even do lottery are getting them,” Mahan said. “This is a lucky store. Lucky Leon’s.”
The store has a long history of winners. And as the Mega jackpot has raced to 3/4 of a billion dollars, they’ve needed extra help.
“We have been very busy the last couple of weeks. We have extended our hours and extended the staff,” said Sam Budhani, owner of Leon’s Food Mart.

Longtime customers told Petersen they believe they have the ticket to getting away from it all.
“Anywhere. Florida. As long as it’s got sunshine all the time,” customer Penny Anderson said.
One player said if he wins the $750 million, the clerk who sold him the ticket gets 100 of it.
“Just 100 dollars?” Petersen asked the man, who did not identify himself.
“No. $100 million! Come on, man. $750 million. I ain’t going to give my man $100,” the man said.
While most of the customers have a lot of lottery experience, Mahan said Friday’s jackpot is bringing out the first timers.
Budhani said on the nights when they draw the numbers, things really pick up after 5 p.m.
