Florida-bound flight makes emergency landing in Albany

ALBANY, Ga. — A plane bound for Florida made an emergency landing in south Georgia Sunday night.

The pilot of an Allegiant Airlines flight from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to St. Petersburg, Fla. landed at the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport after a light came on indicating a fire in the cargo area.

Video shows passengers coming down the emergency slide.

Passengers thanked the flight crew for keeping them safe.

"The stewardesses were excellent. I commend them on a great job. We're alive because of them," a passenger said.

Investigators did not find a fire. Buses were brought in overnight to take the passengers to Florida.
