CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities are thankful to report that there were no animals injured in a fire at a 1,000 square-foot barn in eastern Cherokee County.
The fire happened around 7 p.m. at 121 Allmond Lane off Birmingham Road.
Cherokee County firefighters found heavy flames and smoke coming from the barn after a neighbor called and alerted 911. Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire, but it destroyed the barn.
The owner of the barn says he has not had any horses there for years.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
