Fiery big rig crash shuts down I-20 west bound

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — At least one lane of Interstate 20 westbound is back open after a bus and a FedEx tractor-trailer crashed early Wednesday morning.

The crash happened at about 6:15 a.m. near mile marker 21 in Carroll County.

Officials with the Georgia State Patrol said the bus was going slow in the right hand lane of the expressway when the tractor-trailer struck it in the rear.

Both vehicles then went off the road and rolled over, eventually setting on fire.

The bus driver was injured in the wreck and was taken to Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica for their injuries.

The tractor-trailer driver was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
