Husband arrested in Smyrna woman's slaying

SMYRNA, Ga. — Nevada police have arrested a Cobb County man accused of strangling his wife.

Derrick Williams, 35, was arrested overnight in Reno, Nev.

Investigators believe Williams killed his wife, Finesse Dawson. Autopsy results showed that 33-year-old Dawson died of strangulation.

Dawson's family traveled from Chicago and gathered for a vigil Tuesday night with Dawson's friends and coworkers. At the time, they pleaded for an arrest to be made. Hours later, authorities announced Williams' arrest.

Her family told Channel 2 her body was wrapped in bedding and left inside the couple's Smyrna home. They said Williams left without calling police and tried to blame Dawson's death on an overdose.

"She watched me go from diapers to diplomas, and she can't even watch me receive my second one. I love Finesse so much," Dawson's sister, Erica Dawson, said.

Dawson's funeral will be held in Chicago.
