Family members find body of DeKalb man

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Family members checking on a man who did not show up for work, found his body inside a DeKalb County home.

Officers told Channel 2's Manuel Bojorquez that family members were called when 55-year-old David Johns didn't show up for work on two consecutive days.

On Friday morning, Johns' body was discovered inside his home on Sycamore Drive. Police are investigating the case as a homicide.

"I'm in shock, absolute shock," one neighbor told Bojorquez.  "[He was] really well-known and respected in this neighborhood. I feel sorry for his family and his friends."

Neighbors told police have not seen or heard anything suspicious in the last few days.

"My dog was not alerted to anything going on. It just makes me so sad because if I would have heard something I would have made a phone call," said another neighbor.

Police told Bojorquez there are no obvious signs of forced entry. There was trauma to the victim's body, but that a medical examiner would determine the exact cause of death, authorities said.
