Employee, suspect shot in Fayetteville restaurant robbery

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. — Police are looking for two armed robbers who held up a Chinese restaurant in Fayetteville.

Channel 2's Steve Gehlbach spoke to detectives who spent hours gathering evidence Friday night at the China Café on Glynn Street.

Police said two masked men entered the back door of the restaurant just before 11 p.m.

The robbers held three employees at gunpoint, but one of those workers also had a gun. Police said the employee shot one of the robbers at least once in the head.

The second robber then returned gunfire, injuring another employee, who was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in serious condition.

Both robbers got away. Police are checking local hospitals for the wounded robber, who is believed to have suffered critical injuries.

Police said the robbers might be linked to another Chinese restaurant robbery that happened days ago in Fayetteville.

"We believe confidently that it's connected to another armed robbery we had a Chinese restaurant here in Fayetteville last Thursday," said Fayetteville Police Lt. Mike Whitlow.

Police are checking surveillance video from area businesses in hopes of finding the armed robbers. Gehlbach is working to get more details on this developing story. Check back for updates.
