SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — All lanes on I-285 westbound between Old National Highway (Exit 62) and Washington Road (Exit 1) have reopened more than 12 hours after a sinkhole was discovered.
GDOT warned drivers to plan ahead, saying the repairs will create delays during the Thursday morning commute.
Triple Team Traffic's Mark Arum and Channel 2's Steve Gehlbach tracked the issues for drivers on the interstate on Channel 2 Action News This Morning.
The stretch of interstate was approximately a mile long.
Drivers traveling on I-285 westbound had to take the Old National Highway collector-distributor ramp (Exit 62) to get on I-285 northbound. In addition, the ramp from I-85 southbound to I-285 westbound was closed.
Drivers traveling to I-85 southbound took the Old National Road collector-distributor (Exit 69) to I-285 northbound.
It was not the only traffic issue drivers had to deal with Thursday morning.
Peachtree Street in Midtown is still closed after a series of underground explosions Wednesday morning.
