Driver crashes into 2 homes in DeKalb

No one was injured when a car crashed into two DeKalb County homes Monday morning.

The driver told Channel 2's Rachel Stockman he lost control of his car on Rose Ridge while he was backing out of his driveway to go to work. He apologized for the damage.

DeKalb County police said they believe the driver may have hit the gas instead of the brake pedal when he hit the first house, and then put his car in drive and panicked, hitting the second house.

A nearby homeowner said he heard the crash and an alarm going off.

The owners of one of the homes are out of town, but a house sitter was there at the time of the crash.
Structural engineers will determine if the house is safe for occupancy.
Police said the driver was charged with improper backing.
