• Police: Hit-and-run driver knew he hit mom, girl who died in crash

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Channel 2 Action News has confirmed new information about the man facing charges in a deadly hit-and-run on Lawrenceville Highway in Lilburn.

Channel 2's Kerry Kavanaugh obtained the police report indicating the driver, Spencer Prigmore, 43, knew he hit someone.

Police said Prigmore hit Maria Cervantes Maldonado and her 6-year-old daughter, Melissa. Kavanaugh also pulled the 911 calls from witnesses who saw the crash.

According to the police report, Prigmore was hysterical and asking the officers if he killed the mother and child.

On Monday, two small memorials and crosses were set up where the deaths occurred Thursday night.

Police are awaiting the results of blood tests, but have speculated Prigmore was under the influence of drugs. He is expected back in court Thursday morning.
