• Deputies shoot, kill home invasion suspect

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. - Paulding County deputies shot and killed a home invasion suspect who shot at one of them, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Deputies spotted a driver believed to be involved in a home invasion and followed the car to Echo Ridge Drive in Powder Springs, the GBI said. It happened early Saturday.

When deputies approached the man, he ran into a wooded area, GBI spokeswoman Sherry Lang said. She said deputies used a Tazer on the suspect, but it didn’t subdue him. Then, he took a gun from an officer and shot it, but missed, Lang said.

Another deputy shot the man, and the suspect died, Lang said.

The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Corey Thomas.
