NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — Newton County deputies shot a woman who refused to drop a rifle, according to a sheriff's office spokesman.
Deputies called to a home on Russell Braden Road Monday afternoon encountered a woman who had threatened to commit suicide, authorities said.
When the woman came out of the home with a rifle deputies took cover and ordered her to drop the weapon several times.
The woman was shot an unknown number of times and taken to a nearby hospital. No deputies were hurt in the incident.
