2 women shot, killed in DeKalb apartment complex

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are trying to figure out if two homicides are connected to a rash of recent shootings in DeKalb County.

Police say two women in their early to mid-20s were shot and killed Monday morning at a DeKalb County apartment complex.

Police say they never got a call about the shooting until someone found the bodies.

One man, who lives nearby, said he didn’t see it, but he heard it.

“Immediately after I woke up, I heard a series of gunshots like 'Pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow,'” said neighbor Curtis Perkins.

DeKalb police said the women were found at the Walden Pond apartments on Shell Bark Road. Police said someone found the bodies around 6 a.m.

The women were about 10 yards apart; One was on a sidewalk and the other was in a grassy area, police said.

Police are unclear if the deaths are related to a string of DeKalb shootings, including one that left a 9-month-old child dead. Police are trying to determine a motive in the shooting.

“At this time, we have not located any witnesses, or motive for the crime. We’re asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers,” Capt. Stephen Fore said.
