Video shows gunmen rob man, carjack woman at gas station

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police say three armed men robbed a man and then carjacked a woman within seconds at the same gas station.

“I see him jump out the car with a gun in his hand and I immediately shut my door. I'm trying to lock my door and grab my gun at the same time," said the woman who was carjacked.

She spoke to Channel 2's Liz Artz, but out of fear asked to remain anonymous.

The carjacking was caught on  surveillance video.

The female victim told Artz that the armed men said, “I don't want to shoot you, but I'll shoot you. Give me your keys" before taking her car, gun and handbag.

She said she drove to the Texaco gas station off Gresham Road near I-20 early Tuesday morning to pick up something from the store when she came face to face with the three gunmen.

“There was another guy with a gun. He put it in my face. He's trying to snatch the purse out of my hand," she told Artz. “The guy punches me in the face and pulls me out of the car."

The woman was not the only victim. Just seconds earlier, police say the men driving a black Toyota Corolla robbed another man filling up his tank.

Surveillance video shows only two of the armed men jumped out of the car during that robbery. They can be seen rummaging through the man’s pockets.

“Often when that happens they don't want them reaching because they may be armed," DeKalb police Lt. Lonzy Robertson said.

The female victim told Artz she couldn't get to her gun fast enough, and while her car was recovered, her handgun has not been found.

She said physically she's OK, but emotionally she's a wreck.

“It was three people with guns. Anyone of them could have shot me," she said. “I'm so blessed I wasn't shot."

Police are looking for the three armed men. Detectives said the first robbery victim didn’t report the crime and they would like to talk with him.

Police think he may have gotten a better look at the men. If you know anything about this crime you can report it anonymously to Crime Stoppers and possibly get a cash reward.
