Do you recognize this man police say could be responsible for 10+ home break-ins?

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Investigators say thieves broke into nearly a dozen homes in one community over the past several weeks.

Channel 2's Audrey Washington obtained surveillance video of one of the many break-ins in the Smoke Rise community in the unincorporated area of Tucker.

Police said one of the three people they are looking for in connection to the crimes was caught on surveillance video.

According to police, one suspect went around the back of the home, while two other suspects were up front.

In about a dozen other cases, police say the thieves broke into homes, specifically in the Smoke Rise neighborhood, and stole expensive jewelry and other items.

“They were able to get in through the door that we thought was locked," said Detective W.L. McClelland with DeKalb County police.

Diane Christian said it took thieves just minutes to steal her jewelry and some of her sense of safety.

“We walked in the house, everything in the closet was dumped out, all the drawers were out and the house was just a mess and I just knew what had happened,” Christian said.

The burglars broke into her home in the Smoke Rise community in June. It was one of about 12 burglaries in the area within the last two months.

“I think they’re just random, crimes of opportunity," McClelland said.

Washington asked police why Smoke Rise appears to be the target.

“Well, it's one of our nicer areas. They’re driving through and seeing the homes," McClelland said.

“The properties here are huge. A lot of them are more than an acre and a half and were wooded," Christian said.

Now, while police search for the suspects, Christian is stepping up her security system and suggested others in the area do the same.

“Alarm systems, alarm systems, alarm systems…cameras, whatever you can do," she said.

Police believe the suspects used a greenish, older model Toyota Camry, during the burglaries.

Anyone with information is urged to call DeKalb County police.
