Police: Man wearing 'Be A Good Human' shirt steals $100K in jewelry

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities are looking for a man they say stole more than $100,000 worth of jewelry from a business in DeKalb County --- while wearing a sweatshirt that said, “Be A Good Human.”

Police told Channel 2's Audrey Washington the guy broke into a jewelry warehouse Friday.

Police said the man helped himself to trendy rings, gems and earrings, even trying some of them on.

"We went through the footage again and I realized he took a lot of inventory," Bailey Lehrer, the owner of Ringcrush, told Washington.

Lehrer said the man was inside for a little more than an hour. After he swiped the jewelry, he then walked down the hallway to use the bathroom.

"Not only did he steal jewelry, he also made quite a mess in the bathroom," she said.

Lehrer can laugh about the bathroom part but what’s not funny is just how much in jewelery the guy got away with.

“Opal, amesthyst and citrine and everything takes about two weeks to hand make," she said.

The burglary really impacts Lehrer's bottom line. Now, she’s hoping someone recognizes the thief and turns him in.

“He’s going to do this to another small business. This guy. This is definitely not his first rodeo," Lehrer said.

Lehrer said the business has alarms but no glass break alarm on the window the guy broke in through.
