Man beaten to death at DeKalb County motel, police say

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police are looking for the person who beat a man to death at a motel.

The beating happened at the United Inn and Suites on Memorial Drive Thursday morning, DeKalb County police said.

Police said the suspect in the case walked up to room 320 and once the victim inside opened the door, the suspect attacked. He began punching and kicking the man in his face, neck and back.

The other motel guests were shocked.

“There was a guy on top of him, he couldn’t move. He couldn’t do anything,” said one witness.

The attacker lingered for a short time, then escaped on a MARTA bus, police said.

When officers arrived, they said they found the victim unconscious in front of the room. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition and later died.
