DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A 20-year-old Decatur native was shot and killed while attending a college party in south Georgia.
Stevenson Derival was killed this weekend at a party off campus at Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Georgia.
Mount Vernon Police Chief Calvin Burns said hundreds of people were at the gathering early Sunday when gunshots rang out. Derival, a Towers High School graduate, was hit and later died.

The college's president posted on Facebook about the "shock" many are feeling on campus.
“We are all shocked and broken-hearted to see a friend and student whose life held such promise to be cut short in such a devastating way,” president Steve Echols said.
Derival was a member of the wrestling team at Towers High School. He was a well liked student and athlete, who the kids at Towers called "Meatball."
He was attending attending college at Brewton-Parker, a Christian college in south Georgia.
"(He) was one of the best wrestlers. He had a good spirit, a good heart," said classmate Demonte Parker.
