Decatur shooting leaves 1 dead

DECATUR, Ga. — Dekalb County police are investigating a deadly shooting near a Decatur convenience store.

The shooting happened on Glenwood Road around 8 p.m. Friday. Witness said dozens were gathered in the area to shoot some sort of video. Police said a dispute between two large groups escalated and shots rang out.

One person was hospitalized and later died. A clerk at Savway Food Mart said he heard gunshots nearby and crowds went scrambling.

"They ran in our store, because there were about 20 shots," the clerk said.

Another witness, who declined to show her face on camera, said she and her child dove for their lives.

"I hear 'boom boom boom boom,' so me and my baby, we just dropped to the floor," she said.

Channel 2 crews were at the scene as county police handcuffed a man and took him into custody, but it's unclear if he was charged.
