- There are 5,967 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Georgia, with 198 deaths and 1,222 hospitalizations, according to the latest numbers.
- The CDC is encouraging people wear non-medical masks. President Trump says it’s only a recommendation. The cloth masks and face coverings made from household items can be used voluntarily, according to the Surgeon General. He encouraged people to wash their hands before wearing the mask and not to touch their face while wearing them. - Gov. Brian Kemp signed the statewide shelter-in-place order Thursday afternoon. It went into effect at 6 p.m.
- Kemp signed an executive order saying day cares can stay open as long as they have less than 10 people in the room.

- DeKalb County now says an 11-year-old didn’t die of COVID-19, as they earlier reported. The county says there appears to be a data error.
- The Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests is temporarily shutting down all dispersed camping corridors, day-use areas, trailhead facilities and other recreation sites on the Blue Ridge Ranger District to protect public health and safety.
- Georgia is offering help for parents of Pre-K students who are stuck at home.
- The massive stimulus package signed by President Donald Trump includes $500 million for the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to gather electronic information to track the spread of the coronavirus.
- The Department of Justice announced that it is making $850 million available to help public safety agencies respond to the challenges posed by the outbreak of COVID-19.
- The Atlanta Dream and the WNBA have suspended the start of their season.
