Construction over weekend could cause traffic mess

ATLANTA — Major construction could impact your weekend plans.

You can expect to see some bumper lights near the Interstate 285 and Interstate 75 interchange. Traffic is expected to really back up at times, and your patience may be needed.

Georgia Department of Transportation is working on a massive repaving project. The work got underway at 9 p.m. Friday and will go all weekend.

At different times, the ramps leading on and off of I-75 to I-285 will be closed.

Plus, on I-285, up to three lanes will be closed in both directions between Ashford Dunwoody Road and Atlanta Road for bridge joint replacements and guardrail work.

Drivers that can't get on I-75 north from I-285 east may be rerouted to I-285 west to catch I-75 that way.

GDOT said your best bet is probably just to avoid these areas if you can or you can call 511 and see if the direction you're heading in is backed up.
