Get ready for a cold weekend, snow possible in N. Ga. mountains

Snow was falling in parts of north Georgia Friday, and more could be ahead.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan said it was the first round of winter precipitation that will move through Friday.

We’ll show you which areas have the best chances for snow this weekend, on Channel 2 Action News.

Here is what to know as you plan for Friday.

  • Temps are in the 50s Friday evening.
  • Next snow chance is later tonight into Saturday.
  • Parts of north Georgia could see a coating to a couple of inches - mainly the mountain areas.
  • Fannin County Schools and Union County Schools were closed Friday for winter weather.
