Cobb police investigating double shooting

MARIETTA, Ga. — Two people were found shot at a Cobb County apartment complex early Thursday morning.

According to police, officers were called to the area of South Marietta Parkway and Powers Ferry Road before 5 a.m. after reports of shots fired. While officers were searching the scene, another 911 call came in about two shooting victims at the Liberty Pointe apartments in Marietta. Officers later determined the two shooting calls were related.

Cobb County police officer David Baldwin said the shooting began as an altercation between two groups after a party. At one point, shots were fired into a car, injuring two people inside. The car then traveled to the apartment complex where someone inside called 911.

The two victims were transported to Kennestone Hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating the cause of the altercation.
