Police: Mom sneaks alcohol, drugs into movie theater in toddler's sippy cup

EAST COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police have issued a warrant for a mother who they said sneaked alcohol and drugs into a Cobb County movie theater inside her son's sippy cup.

Channel 2's Chris Jose talked to police, who said Kristina Gibson laced her 5-year-old son's cup with strong alcohol and possible prescription drugs at Merchant Walk Stadium Cinema in East Cobb.

Fellow moviegoers complained after her son started to cry in the theater.

Employees asked her to leave after she became so drunk and high that she wasn't able to walk, talk or take care of her son, police said.

Employees asked her to leave the theater and then tried to stop her from getting into her car. Gibson threatened to kill an officer who responded to the scene, according to investigators.

Investigators said the woman later threatened to kill the officer who arrested her.

Jose spoke to Brandi Rhymes, who lives next door to Gibson. Rhymes said she was shocked to hear what her neighbor had done.

"That's horrible and like I said, very shocking for this neighborhood because it's very family-oriented," Rhymes said.

Gibson is facing charges of reckless conduct and public intoxication.
