50+ shots fired near little league baseball game, bullets hit cars

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Families said a barrage of gunfire forced them to run for cover at a little league game.

Police are searching for the gunmen who opened fire Saturday at Wallace Park in Cobb County.

"A war zone. It was terrifying," said witness Sydnee Fraiser. "Like pow, pow, pow, pow." Fraiser said she heard over 50 shots. "I was up against the car, hiding behind the car."

Cobb County police said it is not clear yet who fired the guns or what led up to the shooting.

"Every time I turned, I saw somebody either holding a gun, pointing a gun, and I didn’t want to move," said Fraiser.

Fraiser said she was at Wallace Park for an informal high school reunion. Families and children were at the park as well. A little league baseball game was in progress before bullets went flying.

"Even across the way you could see mothers holding their children, girls walking real low to the ground, trying to get out of the way, not trying to get hurt," said Fraiser.

One of the bullets grazed Fraiser's car. She told Channel 2 Action News she saw at least two men shooting at each other.

Other witnesses said more people with guns ran off into the woods and into a neighborhood.

Neighbors spotted one gunman in a backyard and called 911.

"I watched them take off running and jumping fences with their firearms, and what happened from there, I don’t know," said Fraiser.

Police said they didn't find anyone injured at the park.
