21-year-old arrested for multiple car break-ins, damage to police cruisers

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities have made an arrest more than a month after several cars, including police cruisers, and a building were damaged in Cobb County.

On Aug. 12, Marietta police said they were called to the Pugmire Lincoln Mercury dealership at 1865 Cobb Parkway South after workers found six vehicles and one building that had been broken into or damaged. They were two privately owned cars that had been left unlocked in a secure area and four marked Cobb County Police Department patrol vehicles that had been dropped off for maintenance. They had windows shattered and damage to the trunks and interiors.

A car camera system was removed from one of the patrol vehicles, along with personal items from each of the six vehicles.

Surveillance video and evidence from the scene led investigators to issue an arrest warrant for 21-year-old Yavin Jackson, of Atlanta.

On Sept. 4, Jackson was stopped for jaywalking across Delk Road near Interstate 75. After realizing who he was, officers arrested him and booked him into jail.

Jackson is facing 9 felony charges from the car break-ins, as well as an outstanding warrant from Atlanta for theft by receiving and obstruction of law enforcement.
