• 14-year-old among girls saved from motel prostitution ring, police say

COBB COUNTY, Ga. - Police said they have saved girls as young as 14 years old from two accused pimps at a local motel.

Investigators said they made two arrests inside the troubled Days Inn on Northwest Parkway in Marietta.

Channel 2 Action News has reported on the motel in the past.

Detectives told Channel 2’s Matt Johnson the teenage prostitutes were forced to create ads on

Backpage.com and use a texting app to talk to clients.

“That is very disturbing, underage girls,” said Logan Life, who works near the motel.

Police found prostitutes as young as 14 years old Wednesday night inside the motel, according to an arrest warrant filed against two alleged pimps.

“I think that’s absolutely disgusting. The men who enjoy that, the men who allow that, that's wrong,” Life said.

Life said armed security officers escort her to her car at night because of long-standing concerns with the Days Inn.

“I don’t feel too comfortable sometimes,” Life told Johnson.

Marietta police said they arrested Brandon Myers and Jasmine Avery around 6 p.m. Wednesday at the motel.

An arrest warrant alleges the duo pimped three suspected prostitutes out of Room 236. The youngest were 17 and 14 years old.

In October, we reported on a sting at the same motel that, police said, led to the arrest of a man looking for sex with a 14-year-old girl.

People in the area said prostitution isn't the only reason they keep security close by.

“There’s definitely drug deals that go on, things like that. People I need to keep an eye on if I see them walking around,” Life told Johnson.

Police also recovered a gun in the room. Both suspects remain in the Cobb County Jail.
