Raid may be related to Cobb police shooting

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb County police arrested three men at an apartment complex on Friday, just a few yards from the site where an officer was shot last month.

According to Cobb County police spokesman Mike Bowman, the SWAT Team was assisting the narcotics unit with a search warrant at an abandoned home Friday morning on Auldon Court.

Channel 2's Ross Cavitt talked to neighbors who said they believe its related to the shooting of Officer Daniel Rogers. Cavitt said the back windows of the home were blown out, possibly by tear gas canisters.

"I heard a loud explosion like a boom. I thought it was an electrical transformer," one neighbor said.

Rogers was patrolling the Concord Chase apartments the morning of July 12 when he was shot. Officers searched the area for the gunman, but did not make an arrest at the time.

The officer was struck in his bullet-proof vest and released from the hospital hours after the shooting.
