'Serial rapist' linked to at least 5 attacks in metro Atlanta, police say

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — The search is on for a man accused of attacking multiple women.

Clayton County police are calling the man a serial rapist, accused of attacking five women over a two-year span.

Police have released sketches of the man in hopes that someone will recognize him.

Police said this case is somewhat unusual because of the random attacks spanning from Jonesboro to Riverdale.

Each time, the suspect went about approaching his victims a different way.

"He looks really young," Clayton County resident Kamisha Carson told Channel 2's Christian Jennings. "Somebody his age, I wouldn't even feel threatened by somebody like that."

Clayton County police said the man has raped four women and attempted to rape a fifth between July 2015 and May 2017.

Most of the attacks happened at apartment complexes or townhomes in several different areas of Clayton County; Chaselake Drive, Roberts Drive, Southlake Cove Court, Brookview Drive and Wynfield Drive, officials said.

“They need to find him. He needs to go to jail,” Enjoli Smith told Jennings.

Clayton County Special Victims’ Unit Capt. Scott Stubbs said detectives were working the cases separately until DNA evidence returned from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab linking the same man to all five cases.

“It is quite odd that we’re experiencing this situation. He’s going around picking his victims randomly and uses different weapons or different types of force to commit the assault,” Stubbs said.

Kamisha Carson said she won’t rest easy until he’s identified and caught.

“I’ll probably be a little more cautious because how I just pulled up today, like ran in, came out didn’t even lock the door behind me,” Carson said. “I definitely just need to pay more attention.”

In one case, police said the man got in through an unlocked window. Another time, he knocked on the door and barged in when the victim opened it.

Police are hoping people will share the sketches to help police make an arrest.
