TSA Southeast considered Saturday one of the slower days during the Memorial Day travel weekend.

“It’s hectic. It’s more than what I’ve experienced, more people than I’ve ever experienced here,” said Christina Hayward. “I’m just kind of frantic, hoping I can get on my flight in time.”

Friday was the third busiest day on record at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, according to TSA Southeast. Agents screened nearly 98,000 passengers. By Saturday morning, passengers were sending in videos of packed escalators, some missed their flights.

TSA Southeast said the number of passengers pushing through Saturday and Sunday will likely be lower than Friday. However, agents expect it to spike again on Memorial Day for what they call “Monday Mayhem”.
