Clayton County Schools moves times for 2 rivalry football games over safety concerns

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Kickoff times have been changed for two high school football games this weekend in Clayton County. The school system decided to change the times over safety concerns at the rivalry games.

Friday’s game between Lovejoy and Mundy’s Mill will now be played Saturday at 1 p.m. at Twelve Oaks Stadium. Saturday’s game between North Clayton and Riverdale has been moved to 12 p.m. at Southern Crescent Stadium.

Other game times for the district remain as scheduled as of Tuesday morning.

Clayton County Schools said that local police and their school resource officers will provide security at all athletic events.

“All patrons attending CCPS football games are expected to enter through the Weapon Detection Devices located at security checkpoints/gates prior to entering all stadiums. No exceptions.”

The school district also announced that it will follow NFL’s clear bag policy for all athletic events throughout the school year.

Each person is allowed to bring one bag that is clear and does not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12.″ The bags must be all-clear with no buckles, hardware or décor on them.

Attendees are also allowed one gallon clear plastic freezer bags and one, unopened bottle of water.
