Police identify pedestrian killed on I-75 in Clayton Co.

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police have identified the pedestrian killed early Saturday during a traffic accident on Interstate 75 heading north near Mount Zion Road.

The victim has been identified as 22-year-old John Scott Lewis, of Missouri. The wreck happened about 4 a.m., police said.

Upon arriving to the scene, police saw Lewis on the ground in the middle of the interstate.

"The pedestrian was struck by vehicles traveling north on Interstate 75, just north of Mount Zion Boulevard, Morrow, Ga.," according to a news release from Clayton County police Sgt. K.T. Hughes.

Two drivers stopped after striking the man, and according to witnesses, Lewis was already in the middle of the interstate when he was hit by the two drivers who stopped, police said.

Police do not know why Lewis was on the interstate during the time of the incident.
