School officials told Channel 2 Action News the fire was intentionally set but put out quickly. Even though the fire was put out, the smoke from the fire activated the sprinklers. Officials said smoke also filled the building, causing students and staff to be evacuated to the gym and fine arts building.
As a result of the fire, students were sent home to finish their day asynchronously.
