Police investigating sexual assault of UGA student near campus

ATHENS, Ga. — Police said they are investigating a sexual assault that happened near the University of Georgia campus early Saturday morning.

The University of Georgia Police Department and the Athens-Clarke County Police Department are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspects.

Police said the victim, a 20-year-old UGA student, reported meeting two people in downtown Athens and walking with them to a vehicle in the North Campus parking deck around 3:30 a.m. Feb 24.

Police said she was driven away from downtown and raped in the vehicle.

The rapists are described as two Latino men. Police said one man has dark curly hair and was wearing a black button-up Columbia shirt and khaki pants. The second man was described as thin, with dark hair and wearing blue jeans, boots, a black jacket with a hood and a white shirt.
