‘This was our year’: Fiancé, father killed in deadly motorcycle crash in Cherokee County

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News is learning more about a deadly Memorial Day weekend crash.

A young father and soon-to-be husband, Tyler Letson, was killed along Highway 92, in Cherokee County.

Channel 2′s Michele Newell spoke with the victim’s fiancé who told her they were going to get married this November.

They picked their wedding venue one day before the crash happened.

“I’ve been in the same clothes since Saturday. Because I don’t want to take them off because that’s the last time I saw him and hugged him,” Haley Brookshire told Channel 2 Action News.

Their love story was like a fairy tale.

Letson’s greatest accomplishment in life was being a dad. He was working on opening his own business.

Friends and family knew him as Cole and said he was a joy to be around who helped others.

“This was our year. We were getting married. We were getting a house,” Brookshire said. “We put our groomsman and bridesmaid boxes together to deliver them this weekend.”

Brookshire noticed a crash along Highway 92 in Cherokee County but had no idea her fiancé was in trouble.

Investigators said a car pulled out in front of Letson’s motorcycle.

“I actually texted him and said, ‘Hey I’m going to be late. Traffic. There was an accident,’” she said.

And now for Brookshire, this beautiful love story is just a memory.

“It was our year and now it’s gone,” she said.
