CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — After five years of service, a deputy K-9 officially retired this past week, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
A dog named Xena has retired and will be missed by deputies thanks to her ‘loyal and dedicated service.’

Cherokee Deputy Joe Sullivan and his family have adopted Xena and she will live out her retirement days with them. Sullivan worked with Xena while she was in the force.
During their time together Xena conducted 80 Narcotics searches, 22 Tracks, 13 Area Searches, 6 Article Searches, and 46 Public Demonstrations, according to deputies.

Upon her retirement, deputies awarded Xena the Meritorious Service Award.
Deputies thanked Xena for her service.
