• Inmate recaptured after walking away from work detail


    CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. - The Georgia Department of Corrections has recaptured an escaped inmate.

    Carroll City Prison inmate John Leonardi walked away from a work detail in Carrollton on Saturday afternoon, officials said.

    Officials said he was recaptured Saturday night. 


    Leonardi was incarcerated for a drug-related conviction, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. His maximum possible release date was in 2019.
