Pilot killed when small plane crashes in Paulding County

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — A small plane crashed in Paulding County Saturday afternoon, killing the pilot, officials say.

Officials say a small single-engine plane crashed off Lucas Road. near the Bartow County line. The pilot was the sole occupant of the plane.

The Paulding County Sheriff's Office identified the pilot as Paul Lewis Deep, 70 of Middleburg, Florida. Deep was traveling to Calhoun, Georgia when his plane crashed.

The sheriff's office said a Georgia Power subcontractor discovered the small airplane in a ditch next to power lines and called 911.
