Body found behind Gwinnett tennis courts

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Gwinnett County police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found near a Lawrenceville subdivision's clubhouse.

Police were called to the River Stone subdivision around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday. They said neighbors called 911 after hearing gunshots on Bridge Walk Drive near Oak Road.

When officers searched the area, they found a body behind the tennis courts with at least one gunshot wound.

"We don't know his identity. We don't know his exact age. We suspect he's a teenager. We'll determine that later on," Gwinnett police Cpl. Edwin Ritter told Channel 2 Action News.

Detectives used flashlights and searched for clues in and around the tennis courts, and crime scene investigators collected bags of evidence.

Police interviewed several people in the neighborhood, but no one seems to know anything about the victim.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Gwinnett Police Department at 770-513-5390.
