Dashcam video shows arrest of 2 UGA football players

BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News has obtained dashcam and bodycam video of the arrest of two University of Georgia student-athletes.

Linebacker Natrez Patrick and wide receiver Jason Stanley were arrested late Saturday night in Barrow County just hours after the Bulldogs won the SEC championship.

Authorities said Patrick was a passenger in a car being driven by Stanley that was pulled over.

Deputies said they could smell marijuana and Stanley gave them consent to search the car. Deputies said they found marijuana under Patrick's seat.

Patrick was charged with possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana. Stanley was charged with possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana and DUI.

The arrest is Patrick's second of the season and third of his career. The third arrest could get Patrick kicked off the team just weeks before the Rose Bowl.

In the video, Stanley pleads for officers not to arrest his friend,

"Please, please, please, please, please. If you've got a heart, if you have a heart, please listen. Hear me," he said. "That's the end for him, man. He's going to jail for this? That's it, man. That's his career. That's that man's life. That's his family."

Both men were transported to the county jail.

"We're sorry. We're not bad kids," Stanley said in the video.

Channel 2's Richard Elliot contacted the UGA athletic department. He was told there are no new developments in the status of the two players.
