21-year-old South Carolina man drowns over the weekend at Fort Yargo State Park

WINDER, Ga. — A 21-year-old man has drowned at Fort Yargo State Park in Winder.

Winder police said a young man went underneath the water and did not resurface.

Georgia Department of Natural Resources spokespeople identified the man as Geraldo Morales Gonzalez of North Charleston, South Carolina.

Game wardens responded to a possible drowning just after 2 p.m. Saturday and located the young man’s body three hours later in six-and-a-half feet of water, just inside the swimming area.

Police also said Gonzalez was not a strong swimmer.
