1-year-old boy hit, killed in driveway

BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News has learned a 1-year-old boy was hit and killed by his mother Wednesday afternoon.

Barrow County sheriff's officials said the child was run over by a relative around noon at his grandmother's Bowman Terrace home in Winder.

The child's mother was dropping him off at his grandmother's home. When the mother prepared to leave, the child unknowingly got behind the vehicle and was hit and killed.

Evidence indicates the tragic incident was an accident, officials said.

Officials will not release further details until all of the family has been notified.
