Police searching for 2 'dangerous' men after violent park attack

ATLANTA — Police have released two sketches in hopes of finding two men they believe robbed and attacked a man at a northwest Atlanta park.

Police told Channel 2 Action News 15 people approached the victim. He was left with a serious head injury that required nearly 10 stitches.

The assault happened on May 25.

“I didn’t know that happened here,” said Mark Brown, who frequents the park.

Police said two of the men demanded cash and anything of value. There was a struggle and then the attack.

“Oh my God, and right across the street from our church. I mean, come on," said resident Cynthia Harp.

Harp volunteers at the food kitchen inside the church directly across from the park. When we showed Harp the sketch, one of the men caught her eye.

“This guy, the second guy looks like he’s been around the church to eat. Yes, he looks familiar," she said.

Police said the two men should be considered dangerous. They hope these sketches will lead to some clues in the case.

As for people who frequent the park, they’re on the lookout for anything suspicious.

“Gotta be careful, I don’t want them to come back here," Brown said.

There’s now a reward on the table for any information that leads to an arrest in this case.

Anyone who knows anything about the park attack is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
