As travel picks back up, make sure you have your vaccine card handy

ATLANTA — As travelers are starting to hit the road again, there’s one thing you need to make sure you’re taking with you: your vaccine card.

While some restrictions are easing up, making sure you can prove you’ve been vaccinated can be a tremendous help.

“Take care of it just like you would money or passport or anything else,” Howard Moses with the Cruise and Vacation Authority in Cobb County told Channel 2′s Linda Stouffer.

Moses is telling customers that proof of the COVID-19 vaccine will be required for most sailings, especially those outside the U.S.

“Most importantly, just keep up with it like you would your passport,” he said.

Many experts suggest taking a picture of it right away. Since you may have to show the original over and over again, a plastic protector can be a helpful tool in keeping the card from getting wet.

If you lose or damage your card, check with your provider as they may be able to provide you with a new one.

Walmart pharmacies are now offering an official digital vaccine card for people who received their shot there.

Many people who plan to set sail this summer told Stouffer that they support the COVID-19 checks cruise lines are putting in place in order to make sure they have a safe and enjoyable trip.
