Suspects on the run after shooting Brinks security guard in attempted carjacking, police say

ATLANTA — A Brinks security guard is in the hospital after shots were exchanged in the parking lot of a northwest Atlanta cafe Tuesday morning.

Channel 2′s Kristen Holloway learned that two Brinks employees were getting breakfast at the Little House Cafe on Marietta Boulevard. When one employee came out of the cafe, he found a man pointing a gun at the driver of the armored truck, demanding that he get out.

Police said two men in black were trying to carjack the truck. Police said the Brinks employee who caught them in the act fired a shot and missed. One of the men fired back, hitting the Brinks employee in the arm.

Both the suspects got away.

There were multiple surveillance cameras in the area, but police said they are not prepared to release video just yet.

The Brinks employee has not been identified, but is expected to be OK.

The suspects got away but weren’t able to take the Brinks truck or any money. Anyone with any information is asked to call police.
