President Carter takes the stage to honor Trisha Yearwood during Garth Brooks concert

ATLANTA — Among the many memorable moments from the first concert at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, fans of Garth Brooks were not only treated to a performance from wife Trisha Yearwood, but also President Jimmy Carter.

Carter, 92, came out on stage shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday evening with Yearwood.

Carter presented Yearwood with a proclamation for all of her support of Georgia over the years and her support of Habitat for Humanity.

Yearwood then started singing, “Georgia on My Mind.” She is originally from Monticello, Georgia.

Needless to say the crowd went wild, despite having some audio issues earlier in the evening.

This is not the first time the former president has made an appearance during a concert in Atlanta. Carter has also taken the stage with country music legend Willie Nelson in May 2016.
