Police searching for prowler peeping into apartments

Police are searching for a man caught peeping through windows at a southeast Atlanta apartment complex.

Channel 2′s Audrey Washington is at the Park Vista Apartments on Fisher Road, where police say the man broke into three apartments.

Surveillance camera showed the man on the property late last month.

Washington talked to neighbors, who said it was scary to think someone could be looking in through their windows.

"I've probably walked past him and didn't even realize it," Lamekia Hughley said. "That's shocking that that's going on out here."

Police said the apartments were empty at the time, so no one was hurt, but neighbors like Brenda Walker are now on edge and alert.

“I’m going to talk to my neighbor and ask him to look out for me and my sister," Walker said. "I’m going to be looking out for her and make sure my blinds are down.”

Police said they contacted the apartment's office. Management there looked at the surveillance photos and confirmed that the man does not live at the apartments.

Walker said she wants security at the complex stepped up starting with the front gate. Hughley said knowing the man is around feels like a huge violation of privacy.

“It’s kind of hurtful that we have to live here and be cautious about us laying down or being in our homes with somebody looking," Hughley said.

Police are asking anyone who recognizes the man to call local Crime Stoppers.
